Women and Economic Power

We Are Not a Development Project, We Are a Strategic Economy: The Economic Case for African Women Entrepreneurs By Slindile B. Baloyi

African women are the most entrepreneurially active women on the planet. One in three African women intends to start a business, compared to one in six globally. We make up 58 percent of Africa's self-employed population. We reinvest 90 percent of our earnings back into our families and communities, generating multiplier effects that formal development institutions have spent decades and billions of dollars trying to replicate through programmatic interventions.

And yet, in 2026, African women entrepreneurs still have to prove their creditworthiness with the backing of a male spouse or partner in many contexts.

Empowerment Without Execution is Just Inspiration:

Empowerment Without Execution is Just Inspiration: Rethinking What Women in Business Need By Slindile B. Baloyi

High-capacity women don't need more confidence, they need strategy and systems.

We have a market saturated with confidence coaching for women. Programmes and platforms built on the premise that the primary barrier to women's business success is a deficit of belief. And while identity work is real and necessary — I build it into everything I do — confidence is not what most of the women I meet at workshops and events are actually lacking.

The Leadership Gap That's Least Funded: Why African women entrepreneurs are the most underserved leadership market By Slindile B. Baloyi

Every workshop I facilitate with SMME owners and aspiring entrepreneurs across KwaZulu-Natal someone asks about funding whether it be government grants or enterprise development money. What Clients Are Saying

Stakeholder Partners

I had the pleasure of working closely with Ms. Baloyi through her impactful initiatives in KwaZulu-Natal, most notably the SMME Business Leadership Workshop she successfully hosted in February 2025.
This flagship workshop, which I was honoured to attend and participate in as a delegate and speaker, was designed for women entrepreneurs and SMMEs across the Tourism, Hospitality, Education, Culture, Arts, and Sports sectors. Ms. Baloyi demonstrated extraordinary leadership and collaboration by bringing together key institutional partners, including Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN), SEDFA, Moses Kotane Research Institute (MKRI), KZN Tourism & Film, and the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.
Following her excellent delivery at the workshop, I invited Ms. Baloyi to speak at the Moses Kotane Research Institute Women Enterprise Development event on 9th August 2025, where she facilitated a stellar masterclass on Vision Mapping for Business. Her ability to translate complex business concepts into practical strategies made an indelible impact, particularly on women entrepreneurs in the informal sector who left empowered and equipped with clear roadmaps for business growth.
I wholeheartedly recommend Ms. Slindile B. Baloyi as the ideal partner to lead and capacitate SMME training initiatives. Her expertise, experience, and unwavering passion for the advancement of women entrepreneurs and small businesses align perfectly with the vision of sustainable, inclusive economic development.
